New Platform Features
Map-based search - Improvements to OpenGeoSci, our map-based search tool, allow users to link directly to the article page.
Content pages - Enhancements to the book and article page split-screen views improve scrolling flow. And, the Author and Article widgets now have standardized fonts for a more cohesive and visually appealing design.
Issue ToC - The issue page now features a streamlined layout and increased contrast to improve readability and accessibility. Some metadata has been removed from the issue view to encourage users to explore our full article pages, where you'll find the most comprehensive information and features.
Reference enhancements - A new feature in the References tab will link a reference with a DOI in the GSW corpus directly to that article or book chapter on the platform.
Large format table option - When there is a table in the Data & Figures tab, the user now has the option to view the table in a larger format, in a new tab and copy and paste the table into the spreadsheet of their choice.
You're Invited!
Are attending GSA next week? Please stop by Booth #613 and say hello and join us Monday evening, September 23rd to celebrate GSW's 20th anniversary!
Our platform provider, Silverchair, recently achieved ISO-27001 certification, which included a migration to CloudFlare in August. This change has resulted in increased data security for GeoScienceWorld users. However, due to these enhanced security measures, some institutional proxy IP ranges, particularly those that are self-hosted, may need to be added to CloudFlare's allow list. If you experience any proxy access issues or know that your institution uses a self-hosted proxy, please email your institution's information and proxy IP range to me at comi@geoscienceworld.org. GeoScienceWorld will handle the necessary steps to ensure continued smooth proxy access. The process is quick and easy, so don't hesitate to reach out if you encounter any issues!
COUNTER 5.1
GSW will be transitioning to COUNTER 5.1 in January 2025 with the expectation that 5.1 reports will be available after February 15, 2025, for January 2025. As a result, COUNTER 4 will no longer be supported. If you wish to archive any of your institutional COUNTER 4 usage reports from 2014 to 2020, we encourage you to download them before the end of the year. More details will follow as we approach the transition date.
